This is Interesting!

I came across this while researching for a History paper. This is a dead give-away that i was seriously Procrastinating :) I put a * next to the items that apply. I suppose some of the "old-wives tales" aren't such tales after all!

What could be more fun than trying to guess the sex of your baby-to-be? Everyone wants to get in the game. Don't be surprised if someone you've never met stops you at the grocery store, offering a prediction of your baby's gender. For hundreds of years, expecting moms have relied on time-tested methods of guessing their baby's sex. Even though these old wives' tales are far from foolproof, they are certainly more fun than their more reliable successors, amniocentesis and ultrasound. Enjoy guessing your baby's sex!

It's a boy if:

  • You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
  • Your baby's heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute *
  • You are carrying the extra weight out front *
  • Your belly looks like a basketball
  • Your areolas have darkened considerably
  • You are carrying low *
  • You are craving salty, spicy, or sour foods *
  • You are craving protein -- meats and cheese *
  • Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy*
  • The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy* (Gross but yes)
  • Your hands are very dry *
  • Your pillow faces north when you sleep * (did at the old house)
  • Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you *
  • Pregnancy has you looking better than ever * (Heck yes!)
  • Your urine is bright yellow in color *
  • Your nose is constantly running *
  • You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
  • You are having headaches in the mornings *
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number*

Thrifty Mom!

Who says you have to pay full price for anything? I drooled and drooled over this Vera Bradley Baby Bag ever since I found out Matt an I were having a baby. However, this bag is priced at over $125, and being that we only paid a whopping $140 for our crib, I jut couldn't justify spending the money on this. So, I put it in the back of my mind, and decided that I would just get a corny one from Babies "R" Us, after all, it's just hauling diapers and bottles right? I was browsing around on Ebay to kill time, and what pops up? This BAG! As it turns out, Vera Bradley retired this print last season, and it is available to the thrifty shoppers for a one time low price of $39.99! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY TO MOMMY!
Thank you Matt, you win and I Love you!

*Daddy got a diaper bag too, I got him a plain black Colombia Satchel, NOT AN EUROPEAN MAN PURSE! :)
He looks cute wearing it. LOL

Henry's Tree and Bird Friends!

I wanted to do Henry's room in something that was cute and fun, but without all the stupid cartoon characters. However, had Henry been a girl, I am sure the room would have been spewing Hello Kitty. But Hello Kitty is NOT a stupid cartoon character. :) Here are some pictures of tree I put up in his room yesterday afternoon. I had originally planned on painting it on the wall, but then I realized that in a few years, Henry will probably decide that birds are stupid or something to that effect and I would be stuck trying to paint over a tree. We found these decals at Babies "R" Us and I almost didn't buy them because they were a little pricey, but I am SO glad I did. They are exactly what we wanted for his room, and they even LOOK like we painted the design on the wall. Plus, they are removable and repositionable. Which is a good thing, because I can't say that I found applying them to the wall to be the easiest thing I have ever done. The branches of the tree kept getting stuck to one another, luckily Henry was not here to witness the obscenities coming from mommy's mouth. :)

Ultrasound Pictures!

It's Boy, Obviously!
Henry's a dancer! Tap Tap Baby!
Up close and personal!
Sweet baby Henry, length of a carrot from
head to toe! He also weighs as much as a can
of soda, why have I gained a carton of sodas?
I meant to post this as my first entry, but when half of your mind is consumed by your uterus, thoughts tend to go missing every now and again. Anywho, my due date is still set for August 15th. Doctor said that he is growing at a fabulous rate and that everything looks great! Grow baby grow!

Month 5!

So I am a little late in doing this whole blog thing, but whatever, I'm here now and that is all that matters right? I am officially 51/2 month pregnant as of yesterday, how exciting! What is even more exciting is that A) food aversions are starting to subside slightly, and B) we started working on Henry's room. I felt like it would possibly be a work in progress, and indeed I was right. Call it mothers intuition, but something kept telling me to pull up the carpet in his room. One, I wanted hardwood floors in his room because it matched the paint, but also I just had a gut feeling that the carpet in his room may not be the most "baby-friendly." I was right, we had the carpet pulled up more than halfway and discovered that there was mold and some water damage from who knows when. It is in a spot too where a nice area rug would not cover either. BUT, that is ok. I can't have the pretty hardwood floors right now, but the more I think about it, the more that I like the idea of having some really nice carpet put down in there instead. It would be warmer and a more rolling around/crawling friendly surface. So far we have the crib (which came a whopping 4 weeks early) and a beautiful antique cherry dresser that belonged to my grandparents. It matches the crib pretty well, well enough to save the $400 instead of buying the one that matches perfectly. We only have the glider rocking chair to buy, but it may have to wait depending on the carpet/flooring expenses. But that is ok! Still a little bit of time. I am also picking up some extra hours at work to help ease the financial strains of baby buying, but I am HAPPY to do it. Mommy and Daddy work hard, Henry will learn this is just how it is if you want to get anywhere in life... legally!
Here are some recent pictures of the work being done on Henry's room. I think it will be swell when all is said and done! I have a few more, but will post them later with another update!

Hello Friends!

Facebook has become to impersonal for me, so I decided to take this opportunity to create a blog where close friends and family can keep up with me on my journey to becoming a first time mom. This way I can post pictures and update on anything and everything exciting! If any of you guys have a blog, add me as a follower and we can keep in touch this way as well! Way more personable than Facebook, and without the annoying comments from almost total strangers :)
Actual first blog entry pending. I am at work, and Andrea is keeping me busy. :p
